Who are we?
Looking good for 100 years old
Scouts started back in 1907 and is now the largest youth organisation in the world.
The 4th Poplar has existed in some form for most of the last 100 years, and now it's time for us to open up again after being closed for most of 2020/21.
We're re-opening on 1st November with an open evening to try out activities and see what we do, followed a 4 week freeĀ trial period in which members will earn their first badge
Just for boys? Think again!
Everyone is welcome at Scouts:
40% of Scouts are girls
Scouts can belong to any religion (or none)
We offer a safe space for LGBTQ+ young people
Since the 1920s we've allowed leaders to make "reasonable adjustments" to badges to make them accessible to people with additional needs.
The first adjustment was to the Communicator Badge:
Leaders allowed a Scout who'd lost an arm in World War I to skip having to wave two flags to send a semaphore message to another Scout.
